Supplied from our Mahogany Distribution Center, the Hackett Quarry has two basic colors: Hackett Brown, and Hackett Blue. This stone is the hardest and most dense sandstone of any of our quarries. The upper layers will start with medium color brown tones, then get darker as we go down. This stone is commonly called Farmers rock. The hackett brown and blue-brown is not normally chopped. Most is sold as straight edge or random builders. Hackett stone will have some surface texture particularly in the brown range. There are some layers that transition blue and brown but when it turns blue, it is all blue. The natural face will have a dark charcoal color with an occasional hint of lilac. The chopped face will have more of an even gray tone. Once the Hackett Blue is installed the U.V. Rays of the sun will bring out more of the stone's color over time. The Hackett Blue Quarry produces very little flagstone. Most of its layers are 3-" thick, therefore most of the stone is chopped into various patterns, 4x4, 3x6 split face, big block ashlars, 3x6, 3x8, 5x8 and more. Because of the hardness of Hackett, we tumble it into many different varieties, 5x5x5 cobblestone, 8x8 squares, 3-6 split face tumbled, tumbled river rock, 2-3" tumbled patio and more. These tumbled stones can be used for walkways, driveways, patios as well as a number of different old world or colonial style veneer wall patterns. This quarry also produces random builders in both colors. Beam rocks and slabs are produced from this quarry as well.
